VERSE 1
I’m a sister, brother, father, and I’m somebody’s mother.
You strike out at one of us, and you hurt the other.
Take a look around, tell me what you see
Every time you turn round, another one’s laid down.
Like this man, dying now with a bullet up in his head, and why it ever happened probably go unsaid.
He was a brother, somebody’s son, he could have been a father, but now he’ll never be one.
People buggin out and spending life in court while the innocent blood's now on life support.
Does it make you feel good, to shoot that man down, watchin him try to breathe while his world blacks out.
Do you sit there thinking you’re way too cool after stealing pop's guns, and bringing it to school.
You didn’t mean to squeeze is what you first said, but the girl ain’t talking, when she’s lyin there dead.
She was a kid, someday she wanted to be a mother. Now she’s lost face down just like all the others.

HOOK
Ten, Twenty, Life you’re going to jail
Ten, Twenty, Life you ain’t getting no bail
Ten, Twenty, Life hope you're feelin this rhyme
Straight off the south side,
Hard time for gun Crime

VERSE 2
A woman cries after being pistol whipped and abused, told to point the man out, out of fear she refuse. She’s somebody’s sister, could be young could be old, but she’s still so afraid, she leaves the story untold, so what makes you think the person ain’t gonna do it again, we all lock our doors, thinking he won’t get in, but he will if somebody don’t stand up and fight, we can’t sit around and wonder if the snake's gonna bite, now you would think that after all the violence running this town, all the homies would get tired of pouring the henny out, if we all come together and put a lock on this, there may be a ray of hope to put a stop on this, but should we wait for the next little girl to die or the innocent old man to get caught in the drive-by, or the next mother crying and asking God why, or the young boy that don’t even reach the age of five. Don’t it make your heart pound when you’re walkin the street, without a clue about when will be your last heart beat. Think you’ll live to seventy retired and free think about being shot and killed at fifteen.
What’s the basis? We got to change the way we live. Put a choke on all this, so your kids just might live. We gotta pull together and stop the gun crime; change the way we think now’s the right time.

(Repeat) HOOK

Ten, Twenty, Life that’s what they say
Get caught with a gun, your gonna pay
You rob, you murder your going to jail
Once convicted, you ain’t getting no Bail
There’s many faces you can put on gun crime
But the face of the criminal, has to do hard time.

(Repeat) HOOK
